Justin & Alissa's Wedding
Justin and Alissa's Wedding
Justin and Alissa's wedding was nothing short of amazing!
As photographers we love it when the bride and groom are all in for photos, when they place a high value on all the memories that can be created for their wedding day. On top of that attitude, they chose great venues for photos, every little detail was covered, and it showed! The day started out with a beautiful warm sunlight, which we knew was not going to last, as rain was predicted to start around noon. Wouldn't you know it, the forecast was correct. However, a little bit of rain was not going to put a damper on Justin and Alissa.
We met Alissa at Sepia Chapel (which is an amazing restored old church with a very modern feel), simply gorgeous. Even the dressing rooms were picturesque, perfect for pictures. The dresses were hung on the hooks with care, bouquets lined up in a beautiful display, waiting for a wonderful wedding to start. Alissa and the bridesmaids arrived with their spirits aglow! The excitement builds as it's time to get ready, Alissa assisted by her mom stepped into her dress, she looked amazing! This moment is a close to heart moment between a mom and her daughter. Paula has watched Alissa grow from infancy until now, this moment when her daughter will start a new chapter in her life as she professes her vows to the man she loves. Of course there are tears and hugs to share, words are not even needed at this time. And then it's time for a first look with Dave (Alissa's dad) and her brother. Once again, words are not needed, the look in Dave's eyes said it all.
Meanwhile, Justin and the groomsmen are gathering outside. While the bride and bridesmaids are more emotional, the guys are already in the "let's stand by our guy" mode, let's get this party started mode, what are you worried about anyway? They were there to give Justin support by giving him a hard time, remember when times! Always fun to hear the stories! Don't get me wrong, there were touching moments with Justin and his parents as well. We were just finishing up with the photos of the guys when the rain started, great timing!
A few tears were shed as the bride and her dad walked down the aisle, it's hard to give your daughter away! Justin had a few tears trickle down as he saw Alissa on her way to greet him. The two exchanged their vows, tried to light a stubborn candle (eventually it did light), and kissed for the first time as husband and wife. Their love for each other was so evident, they make each other smile, they end each others sentences!
The plan was to visit Wequiock Falls for photos, there was a lite rain falling, however that was not going to stop Alissa and Justin, they both agreed to continue to the falls. So glad we did, as it is a great photo opportunity. We even walked down into the falls, wet and muddy as it was! The day wasn't all centered around great photos, there was plenty of time to party as well. A few beers make it so much easier to smile (right guys)? Next stop; Lakehaven Hall in Kewaunee which sits on the shores of Lake Michigan. The misty rain and fog was another great setting for photos. Lakehaven was decorated to perfection, white lights strung from the ceiling, white tables and chairs, lanterns, beautiful table settings, it looked amazing. Justin and Alissa's guests started filing in, putting a warm, fuzzy, feeling in the house, ready to raise their glasses to the new couple.
Justin and Alissa, thank you so much for allowing us to create your wedding memories, it was a wonderful day!
We all wish you as much love, happiness and joy as your hearts can hold.
